Description
Juicy watermelon fries coated in a crispy exterior and drizzled with a creamy, tangy lime crema sauce – a refreshing and unique appetizer that’s perfect for warm weather gatherings.
Ingredients
– 1 medium watermelon, cut into 1/2-inch thick fry shapes
– 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
– 2 tablespoons lime juice
– 1 teaspoon lime zest
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
– Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat your air fryer or oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, lime zest, and honey until well combined. Stir in the chopped cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste. Set the lime crema aside.
3. Arrange the watermelon fries in a single layer on the air fryer basket or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
4. Air fry the watermelon fries for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway, until lightly golden and crispy. Alternatively, bake the fries in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy.
5. Transfer the warm watermelon fries to a serving plate or platter. Drizzle the lime crema over the top and serve immediately, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
Notes
For a healthier option, you can bake the watermelon fries instead of air frying. The lime crema can also be used as a dip for the fries.
