Description

Discover the delightful and timeless treat of homemade Tang Yuan (Sweet Rice Balls). These soft, chewy, and flavorful glutinous rice balls are a beloved Chinese dessert that can be enjoyed year-round.

Ingredients

– 2 cups glutinous rice flour

– 1/2 cup warm water

– 1/4 cup white sugar (or to taste)

– 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

– 2 tablespoons crushed peanuts (optional)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix the glutinous rice flour and warm water until a smooth, pliable dough forms.

2. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

3. Divide the dough into 1-inch balls.

4. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the balls into the boiling water and cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes.

5. Remove the cooked balls with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a serving bowl.

6. Sprinkle with white sugar, sesame seeds, and crushed peanuts (if using).

7. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

– For a more flavorful filling, you can add a teaspoon of ground ginger or a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.

– Tang Yuan can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
