Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this Tallow-Fried Sourdough Patty Melt. The combination of a juicy beef patty, melted cheese, and crisp sourdough bread fried in rich tallow creates an irresistible and satisfying sandwich.

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef

– 4 slices sourdough bread

– 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese

– 2 tablespoons tallow (or other high-heat cooking fat)

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Form the ground beef into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1/2-inch thick.

2. Heat the tallow in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Add the beef patties and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and browned.

4. Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty and let it melt for 1 minute.

5. Toast the sourdough bread slices in the same skillet until golden brown on both sides.

6. Assemble the patty melts by placing a patty with melted cheese between two slices of toasted sourdough bread.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms to the patty melts. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as provolone or pepper jack.
