Description

Indulge in the rich, custardy goodness of this make-ahead Overnight French Toast Casserole. Prep it in just 5 minutes the night before for a hassle-free, heavenly breakfast that’s perfect for feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

– 12 slices of day-old bread, cubed

– 8 large eggs

– 2 cups milk

– 1 cup heavy cream

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Arrange the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.

4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated.

5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.

6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

7. Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

8. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

9. Serve warm, with desired toppings such as powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use challah or brioche bread. To make it ahead, assemble the casserole the night before and bake in the morning. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days.
