Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

– 1 cup milk

– 2 tablespoons butter, melted

– 1 egg

– 1/4 cup maple syrup

– 8 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

3. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and maple syrup. Mix well.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined, being careful not to overmix.

5. Spoon the batter evenly into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.

6. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each muffin.

7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. Allow the muffins to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a more indulgent treat, try adding a small spoonful of maple syrup or honey to the top of each muffin before baking. You can also experiment with different cheese varieties, such as American or Swiss, to suit your taste preferences.
