Description

Indulge in the beauty and flavor of this Edible Flower Focaccia! This visually stunning homemade bread is infused with the natural sweetness of edible flowers, creating a delightful and unique dining experience.

Ingredients

– 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

– 1 1/4 cups (295ml) warm water

– 3 tablespoons (45ml) olive oil, plus more for drizzling

– Assorted edible flowers (such as nasturtiums, pansies, or marigolds)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and yeast. Add the warm water and olive oil, and mix until a shaggy dough forms.

2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Punch down the dough and transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use your fingers to gently stretch and shape the dough into a rectangular focaccia shape, about 1/2-inch thick.

5. Arrange the edible flowers in a decorative pattern on the surface of the focaccia. Drizzle with a little more olive oil.

6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown and the flowers are wilted.

7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different types of edible flowers to create your own unique designs. Store any leftover focaccia in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
